Folks. Do you know anything about Majapahit ?
Majapahit was a vast archipelago empire based on the island of Java from 1293 to around 1500. The empire had expanded them power reached through Southeast Asia, including the present day Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, southern Thailand, the Philippines East Timor and the Ryukyu (Okinawa) south part of Japan.
Majapahit empire was exchanging and making diplomatic relationship with these countries .Foreign trading prospered among southeast Asia countries . Therefore, maritime culture of Asia was developed and spread quickly when that era before" Age of discovery"(from Europe point of view) thus that is to say "Age of voyage Asian"
The Spirit of Majapahit ship was the result of reconstruction from the trading ship replica in the Majapahit Empire era which was taken from the relief panels in Borobudur temple in the 13th century.
The reconstruction of the Spirit of Majapahit ship was the results of a seminar entitled "Finding the Shape of Majapahit ship" organized by the community of Japan Majapahit Association (JPA) and ministry of culture and tourism Indonesia ,
"Spirit of Majapahit" will visit several East and South East Asian countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Japan, the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Bangkok and Singapore.
This is a kind of sailing expedition by Asian people for find our maritime culture
